The Galapagos Islands are in the Pacific Ocean a few hundred miles off the coast of Ecuador, South America. Most of the islands are part of a wild life sanctuary, and have been so for many years. As a result of this, and due to their isolation, most of the animals on these islands are unique and unafraid of humans. The lizard here is about 18 inches long, red and black in colour, and actually dives underwater for food!
